Waitlists are available on WebAdvisor for most courses in Liberal Arts, namely courses in HAVC, LAS, HPSS and LAEL. Students will be able to place their names on waitlists for up to three classes. If a seat becomes available, the next person on the waitlist will be notified via RISD email that he/she has permission to register for the class. The email recipient will have two days to register for the class. The transaction for adding classes is done via “Manage my Waitlists” on Webadvisor.
At the end of that time, if the student has not registered, the opportunity to register will be removed and offered to the next person on the waitlist.
For the most part, studio and nonmajor classes are not setup on WebAdvisor to accept waitlisting. Students should follow current procedures for accessing full classes, which are the student should keep checking WebAdvisor to see if a seat has become available, or contact the instructor to ask if they keep a waiting list. After web registration closes–whether or not you have waitlisted yourself or contacted the professor, you must go to the first class (or subsequent classes during the add/drop period) with an Add/Drop Form to seek the instructor’s written permission to be added to a class.
