All students are assigned an academic advisor upon entry to RISD. For a freshman, it is one of the Foundation Studio instructors. For everyone else, it is a faculty member of their major department. Liberal Arts advisors are assigned in the student’s sophomore year. Your advisor is available to talk with you about academic issues or problems with the academic program. They can help you to become more familiar with RISD’s academic procedures and resources.
